Lightfoot for US Senate, 2016

' US Senate candidate, Gail Lightfoot, stated today that the 'problem we face with immigration today is the numerical limit by country that are permitted to enter the country legally. The numbers appear large. However, if the numbers were realistic, no one would need to enter illegally. The very fact that so many illegal immigrants live here today should tell us that the door to legal entry is not open wide enough.'

'The solution is to end the numerical of individuals allowed to migrate and live here. That may involve more entry points and more immigration officials dedicated to processing paperwork and verifying the status of immigrants but the many benefits are decidedly worth it.' Lightfoot continued.

'How should the numbers be revised? Up to infinity! Don't panic. It can be done.
We do not need numerical or nationality limits. We do need to know who the immigrants are, where they come from, if they are healthy, not a threat to others and that they find and keep a job once here. Lightfoot emphasized.

'This may be more difficult than setting a numerical and nationality limit. It could even take more manpower to process an unlimited number. However, I cannot think of a better way to add jobs in America today. At the same time, it could be much simpler. If each person entering the country provided documentation of good health, no criminal record at home and were required to report back to INS every 90 days when they first arrive [and less often later] proving that they are self supporting, INS agents could spend time tracking and reporting to other authorities who is violating the terms of their legal entry. Local law enforcement could easily verify work status from lists provided via our electronic systems. Abuse of individuals by individuals profiting from illegal entry would diminish if not end completely. The law would protect the innocent as it is meant to protect us all. Abuse of illegal immigrants would practically end.' she added.

Lightfoot smiled as she said, 'Welcoming immigrants could be the simple answer to the illegal immigration problem of all countries. A welcome mat says 'Come on in, the water's fine, opportunities abound and we are here to teach you how to become an American as quickly as you are able.' Let America resume its time honored tradition of welcoming newcomers and toss out the ideas of only allowing certain occupations, colors or creeds. We need to get over that because it is truly un-American!'

Gail K Lightfoot, a resident of Arroyo Grande, is the CA Libertarian candidate for US Senate in 2012. She has 10 partisan campaigns behind her along with leadership positions in the Libertarian Party of CA. One legal challenge to the CA Election Code bears her name and her testimony and vote totals were cited in the lower court decisions, upheld by the US Supreme Court, overturning CA's Open Primary Law of 1996.
